For unstated reasons, the park is changing the permit distribution for the Half Dome hike as the season winds down. Applications for the normal 2-day mini-lottery will end Sep 28 (for permit use Sep 30).
Then a full blown LOTTERY will commence for all slots for Oct 1 thru 9. This means you must apply any day between Sep 15 and 24. The same parameters that the March lottery had apply. 7 choices of dates, 6 total permits, $10 fee + $10 per permit.
Results of the lottery will be out Sept. 26. The Half Dome cables will be taken down Oct 10.
